Lots of Walking

with one comment

I did lots of walking yesterday. At lunch time I walked from my office building to a Staples store that’s 0.7 miles away and back. That was 1.4 miles. After work at about 5:40 I was on my way from the office to the bus station, the GTA shares a terminal with Greyhound, when an  attendant at a parking lot across the street from the station told me that the buses had already left the station and I had missed them. She said they had been running on time all day, when they are normally 10-15 minutes late. Even if I don’t make it all the way to the station I can usually catch the bus along the way.

So, I had missed the last run of the bus I usually take. There was one more bus I could take that would get me near home but the last run of that bus wasn’t until 6:30. So I turned and went to get a cup of coffee. I also succumbed to temptation and ate a large slice of carrot cake while having my coffee :-( So, anyway 0.4 miles to bus station and then 0.2 miles to Coffee Underground. Another 0.2 miles back to the bus station.  Now I was up to 2.2 miles walking for the day.

I got off the bus near Rafferty’s Restaurant and Bar and walked over to St. Francis Eastside Hospital which has a nice waiting room with comfortable seating and TVs to wait for my wife to pick me up. That was another 0.4 miles. So my outdoor walking for the day was 2.6 miles. Pretty good!
